The Ocean's Tempest The man drowsily looked out from the top of the sand dune. The ice blue sky stretched uninterrupted from one edge of the world to the other, except for the searing magnesium white of the sun. He spurred his camel onward, down the face of the dune. I step out of the forest, into the sand on the bank of the river. It feels reassuringly warm between my toes. It's been so long since I've been here. The river still sounds the same as it always has. The closer I get to the water, the coarser the sand gets. By the time I get to the water, the sand has turned into gravel.
